This last weekend was a big one for us. Lego Boy turned 8! And for our religion eight is when we feel our kids are old enough to be accountable and make the choice to be baptized. So all my extended family was in town, as well as all my husbands extended family (that live here already). It was a great week and a fun weekend. There was a ton of family support as well as local friends from church there to support Lego Boy. What a wonderful Spirit was present during a special event for our family.
Here is the “classic” parent/baptism boy/girl picture in front of the AWFUL golf accordion doors. But you have to get one! Plus there really isn’t any better place to take pictures in the building. After the baptism everyone came back to our place to have dinner and dessert! Not only was it my son’s birthday earlier in the week (1/11/11, pretty cool, huh?) but also my husbands (yup, same birthday. My son was his 26th birthday gift from me.). So we were celebrating both birthday’s as well as the baptism.
I couldn’t let such a wonderful event pass without making a cake!!! I wanted to stick with white and pastels (you know, the whole white baptism thing), but I didn’t want it to be too girl-y. How’d I do? I have his birthday party and cake up next, a wedding cake and then another birthday cake! Lots of baking going on at my house now. It smells like chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate right now. Mmmmmm

Did you seriously make that cake!! Whoa…that is super amazing!
Congrats on the big day…a proud mama day for sure. And the accordion door picture? Gotta love it.

I did! I love making cakes. I’ve been wondering, are you by chance related to Chris and Kris Kanenwisher (from Montana, currently in UT)? It’s just such an unusual last name I had to ask! I’m assuming you are? Because your family photo looks like her work! We were floormates in college (Kris and I, not Chris) and still very good friends! She did all my headshots!

Thanks Amy!!! Have I told you how freaked out I got last time I got an email from you? My SIL is also Amy Chappell, but we’re not really on good terms. In fact when she emails it’s usually a very VERY bad thing. So it gave me a bit of a scare!!! Then I remembered she hasn’t updated her email since she’s been married, 10 1/2 years, so her email is still Amy Prisbrey! HA!!! Totally relief!

This is absolutely crazy, but my husband and son share the same birthday too, 1/11. Not only that, but my son was also born on my hubby’s 26th birthday. When I read this post I was quite suprised. Just thought that I would share!- FYI your cakes are adorable!!
