This is on of our kids (and mine of course) favorites. We love breakfast foods for other meals and this one is usually more of a brunch or after school snack when it’s fresh. I always make a triple batch and while it should last a few day’s we all constantly snack on them and they really only last a day! They make terrific snacks! AND they are super easy to make. Baking such a large batch takes some time, but that’s the only “difficulty”. I like to use mini chocolate chips. I like the smaller more evenly spread out chocolate, and this way I don’t have to chop anything! I’ve dyed them for holiday’s, put crushed peppermint on top, etc.. You could TOTALLY swap the chocolate for dried fruit and it would be terrific (if you like dried fruit, which I don’t, and I’m addicted to Chocolate, so why would I bother!) Enjoy and let me know if you try them what you think!
Chocolate Chunk Scone
8 large or 12 small
2 C flour
1/3 C sugar
1 Tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 C chopped chocolate
1 1/4 C heavy cream
Extra cream and sugar for topping
Whisk flour, sugar, powder, salt and Chocolate. Add the cream to the flour mixture and mix until moist. Then knead the dough in the bowl 5-10 times, this should clean up the sides. Transfer the ball to a slightly floured surface and pat out to an 8 inch circle about 3/4 inches tall. Then cut into 8 or 12 pieces and transfer to baking sheet. Brush top with extra cream and sprinkle on extra sugar. Cook at 425 for 12-15 mins.

Love this! I am normally a sultana scone type of girl but this look awesome!
this is one of our favourite afternoon treats!

I don’t eat sugar or flour but my husband does so I’m going to make these for him. Thanks for sharing. By the way, I also have a daughter and three boys in the same order you have. Mine were all born within 5 years of each other and now they’re all gone and I miss those years with all the noise. (Notice I didn’t say all the mess.)

I’m not very good at paying attention to that kind of stuff. I’m all about real heavy cream, butter, full fat anything. Mmmmm

And I meant that in a good way.
