So you’ll notice I added pictures of the kids along with their new nicknames! I figured it might help as I talk about them to know who is who. My sister has nicknames for her kids on her blog, but I actually don’t ever remember who goes to what nickname! I know, I’m a terrible sister sometimes. So I hope this will be helpful. I know if all of you really tried you could figure out their real names, but for my husbands sake (and as part of the agreement that let’s me blog more personally) it’s nicknames. So if you know my childrens real names, if you use them in the comments I will edit you comment before I approve it!
So My broken wrist is NOT a fun family summer activity. I keep going to do things, like go to Costco, when I realize it’s a logistical nightmare with only one hand! Still, it’s got to get done, so the older kids have to step up. I can’t carry the laundry up the stairs or even move it from the washer to the dryer. I am really starting to appreciate my left hand. (you don’t even want to KNOW how long posting this is taking! Thank goodness for spell check!) Time to somehow make sandwiches!
So… The Reader, She LOVES books, and when I say love I mean obsesivly in love. She can’t walk past any lettering at all without stopping to read it. Her teacher told me of a time she got up to sharpen her pencil, and as she walked past a fellow students desk a book he was reading caught her eye. She slowed, then stopped walking all together and started reading over his shoulder. Then she leaned over and said “I’m ready to turn the page…” And this is not uncommon! We’ve had to create rules at the house about NOT reading! Like not reading until after she’s dressed, not reading at the dinner table, not reading after 9pm. I actually pay her tokens to go outside and do crafts just to get her away from books at time. But at the same time I totally understand. I also love reading, and get so immersed in books that I too wouldn’t get anything done if I didn’t also have rules about when I can and can’t read! She reads at a 10th grade level and last week read the first 4 Harry Potter books in 3 days! She can read a Box Car children’s book in less than 2 hours!
The Computer guy, LOVES anything electronic. Give him your phone and he’ll be at the games (with not instructions on how to get there) in less than a min. He was the one buying things from Ebay at 2 years old. He is going to be our computer game designer when he get’s older. If there is something on your phone you can’t figure out just give it to Computer Boy. He’s a natural. He’s also great at Math, like me, and I’m sure that helps. My future engineer!
Lego Boy- Loves Lego’s! He loves building things, so I guess a Civil Engineer maybe, but he also loves space (he was almost nicknamed Space boy) and want’s to be an astronaut. He can take one of those HUGE lego kits and following the directions, step by step build the entire thing himself! He also is a great mimic, and can remember lines to movies he’s only seen once, as well as words to songs, tunes, etc… He hums when he get’s nervous. His favorites? The theme songs to Indiana Jones, Star Wars Dr. Horrible and the Guild,as well as Beyonce, Lady Gaga.
Finally The naked one. Self explanatory. She is always naked. It’s been going on since the Fall. Every once in a while she’ll stay dressed for a day, or at least leave her diaper on, but then all of a sudden we’re back to naked! She hasn’t been officially diagnosed with Aspergers yet, but she’s starting to do the same things her older siblings did at that age. It’s becoming familiar. Anyway, what’s to say, she’s the baby, she’s spoiled rotten, totally sweet but knows how to work the system. I’m looking forward to this year when she’s the only one at home so I have that time to focus on her and training teaching her better. She is in definite need of some time out’s. It’s been hard with all the kid in the same room. Separating the girls and boys when the construction is finished is going to be a HUGE help. And the same time she’s sweet and kind and everyone LOVES her! I’m hoping she’ll grow out of this nickname soon though and I’ll have to come up with another one!
So that’s the fam (I’ve agreed to keep my Hubby out of it as much as I can, but I’ll get to him soon). I hope this helps as you hear snippets from time to time!
