It was my nephews birthday last week and so for our small, casual, family party I made this quick and easy rainbow sprinkle cake! I also shared the valentines the kids and I made this year, pinwheel pencils, with a cute quote and a printable for the flags I made! Baby boy has become a MAJOR drooler, like BEYOND a little drool, BUCKETSFUL by the hour. SO this tutorial for creating my own towel lined bib? Brilliant!!!

I think this rope vase turned out AMAZING!!!! Now I’m adding a large vase to my thrift store shopping list!

With my awesome faux hawk I don’t wear headbands very often, but I love them, and love them for my girls! AND I love ombre, so these gorgeous ombre headbands are right up my alley!

Obviously if you guys come to the blog for more than just the link party you know I’ve been on a crochet kick lately, so these crochet daisies are absolutely lovely! I’m thinking of making a few of these for a single headband for my niece (or maybe on some rubber bands?)!

I am a HUGE meat eater, I’m a meat and potatoes gal, while my husband is a huge veggie lover. We are like Jack Sprat and his wife. So I don’t often make roast… BUT My kids are also turning out to be massive meat lovers like me! SO I see more and more roasts in my future, this bacon wrapped roast sounds AMAZING and I can’t wait to try it!

Mmmm Breakfast foods!!! Always a favorite at our place! Carbs, cheese, meat and breakfast all together? I’m IN! I can’t wait to try these bacon, egg and cheese breakfast cups.

I took pencils and some pretty scrapbooking paper and created these pinwheels. Since the pencils and paper were all different each one turned out unique! The kids loved them!

I found this fun Spinning quote from online (from the movie Practical Magic?) “Do you ever put your arms out and just spin and spin and spin? Well, that’s what love is like.” And created these pencil flags (Free download valentines pencil or straw flags), with “to” and “from” on the other side so the kids could personalize them!

On Valentines day itself The DA, Baby Boy and I took cookies, frosting and sprinkles over to the school and helped in Lego Boy’s classroom. I love her “What cookie? I didn’t eat a cookie” face in the first picture when she thinks I caught her doing something wrong!!! She was pretty excited when I said she could EAT the cookie she decorated!

And of course Lego Boy- I love his concentration, from frosting to adding sprinkles this guy get’s down to business!!! His fun and energetic 1st grade classmates are hilarious, and it was so much fun to be a part of their party! You can also see the hole where he lost his first tooth last week!

One of the very best things about living here is being so close to so many family members. Obviously there are my mother and father in law upstairs along with a sister in law, but I also have an amazing Sister in law just 4 exits down the freeway. We love to spend as many Friday nights with each other as we can, with the kids playing and us adults enjoying each others company (she’s hilarious!)

Anyway we also get to spend time together for family birthday dinners. Last week was my nephews birthday. We got together for just dessert, and I offered to make a simple cake. He requested chocolate cake and vanilla frosting! Beyond that it didn’t matter. So I had a ton of sprinkles left from my Ice Cream Parlor birthday party and having seen an adorable cake on pinterest with sprinkles I decided it was the perfect time to try it out!!!

Then as I was taking pictures I moved it to quickly and it FLIPPED OVER!!!! GAH!!!! Luckily the cake didn’t break, so I flipped it back, re-spread the frosting, intermixed with sprinkles now, and re-sprinkled it! It worked great (and of course tasted amazing- and that’s all that really matters, right?)

Here is how I sprinkled it: I tilted a FRESHLY frosted cake, poured a pile of sprinkles into my hand and put it against the bottom of the cake and then brought my hand up the cake, pressing in the sprinkles as I went. For the top I poured a pile on and softly spread it around, pouring more where I needed it.

Pretty simple, BOTH times I did it! And quick to, an easy last min cake decoration if you need one! AND I have to say but I kind of LOVED the extra texture of the sprinkles in the frosting! I might just do that under the fondant in my next cake for FUN!
