Goodie Plates for neighbors

Goodie Plates!!!! Someone commented to me that I make too many things, that they wouldn’t go to all the work. But then I thought. If I only made a few things, but still took around the same amount of plates, there wouldn’t be very many leftover’s for me!!! I’d rather make all my favorites (let’s face it I was going to make them all anyway) and double the recipe (no extra time that way) and have plenty for plates AND my own enjoyment! Plus it isn’t hard, just time consuming, and OH so worth it! So here is the set up around the island while I’m making the plates.

A sample plate. I should have gotten bigger plates so I could have fit 3 of each thing (but that mean’s less for me… hmmmm maybe these plates were the perfect size). So we have (starting from the top and going counter clockwise) Sugar cookies, caramel brownies, candy cane marshmallows, peanut butter cup squares, almond brittle, sandies and chocolate pecan fudge. I didn’t get around to making truffles, but they wouldn’t have fit on the plate very well.

And here is Tonight’s round of plates. I’m sure I’ll be making some more (you always want one for that person that drops off a plate that you weren’t expecting to so you can reciprocate right away) and Santa has to get one… And since I know I’ll get some request’s for recipes see below. I’ll be posting each recipe for your enjoyment! Merry Christmas!

  1. Wow, sis. I normally take around like 5 – 8 plates at max. This year I’m not taking any. Just keeping them for myself from the start. I think its getting harder to take things anyway because people have so many allergies now its crazy. ANd I usally end up throwing away the plates I get because I don’t like theirs as much as I like mine, so I’m assuming EVERYONE feels the same way. SO I decide that most likely I will be keeping my treats every year and go with the… give a poinsettia thing

Well I have the immediate neighbors, then the sisters I VT, and my partner, The families Bill Home Teaches and his partner, then all the family in the area and the bishopric, my VT’s and our Home teachers. That’s 19 plates minimum! I like getting plates because Bill can snack and eat all the bad stuff we get from everyone else and save the good tasty home made stuff for myself!!!! I’ve only had one family ever have allergies, so I guess I’m just lucky that way! I have to say it’s not as much fun delivering goodies when we don’t Carol… I loved caroling growing up, now? Not so much. But soon the younger 3 kiddo’s will be old enough to sing and maybe drown out B and B!

I still have a few favorite treats to add! The kiddo’s want to do gingerbread houses! But it’s fun to make the same things every year! And my kids LOVE cooking with me!
