Thanks for anyone who voted last week!!!  I am blown away by all the talent in the competition.  I landed in the middle of the pack.  Mine were the pillows, I’ll be linking up a tutorial every day this week for each of the pillows.  The new week of So You Think Your Crafty, Just for Kids, is up and running.  So head on over!

This was the first pillow I made for my thrift store challenge. I fell in love with this fuzzy sweater, and it makes a great pillow, it’s so soft and comfy and matches my green walls (and couch) perfectly!

I started with a thrift store sweater and pillow.

rosette sweater pillow cut

I used the pillow as a template. Putting the right sides together I sewed it up almost completely, turned it right sight out and shoved the pillow inside!

Then I hand sewed the sweater the rest of the way closed.

Then I cut the neck and the  rest of the sides off and right sides together I sewed the neck and body holes closed, and turned it back around.

rosette sweater pillow bud

I used the larger of the sides to create a rosebud center, as I was worried the arm/body tube wouldn’t be enough for the size I wanted.  tucking the end of the arm/body tub under the rosebud I twisted the tube while wrapping it around the bud and stitching it to the pillow as I went, creating a rolled flower!
