Topsy Turvy Tuesdays- Sick day

I hope you all had amazing Christmas weekends. Mine was amazing, but not in a good way! On Wednesday night Lego boy had a fever of 104. Now Lego boy is also known as “the sick one”. He has a chronic cough and runny nose all winter, esp here in dry UT. He’s had anything and everything, really, bronchitis, pneumonia, croup. The the strange side he had a reoccurring UTI (yes, a BOY, he was 6 weeks old- it turned into Ecoli). He’s already had his adenoids an tonsils out and that seemed to keep it to a chronic cold the past few years. ANYWAY a high fever is new and always a bit scary as a mom. We did the Tylenol/Motrin rotation all night and the next day took him (and by this time his sister, The Naked One, as well) to the Dr.
Of course it was just the flu, but my pediatrician (who is the BEST EVER- and I’ve had a lot of pediatricians over the years/moves) made some appts for some new tests to see if we can solve this chronic couch/runny nose. He’s already missed so much of kindergarten I’d like to figure it out before he misses too much more, or half of first grade as well!
Anyway, that day, Thursday, was also our Christmas Eve. We’ve celebrated Christmas off of Christmas for 7 years now. It started when we were living in Japan and Christmas wasn’t a day off. And here in Utah my husband has a lot of family. Which means, Christmas eve traditions here, Christmas day traditions there… And I like to do our own traditions with my kids. Which usually involve wearing PJ’s all day and NOT rushing around dragging my kids away from their new toys to see family… So we celebrated a day early.
So back to the sick one… By that night I had a fever along with Computer boy. The next morning (Christmas day) we opened presents, and then all fell asleep! We slept through the family parties, through the real Christmas day, through the weekend. Today the fevers are finally gone, we’re all still pretty snotty, but the coughs are also getting better, except one. Surprisingly NOT Lego boy, but Computer boy! It turned into Croup! So back to the Dr. for me today… With all 4 snotty kids in tow! Wish me luck- attempting a shower today…
SO no features from last week (I’ve slept so much the week passed by at warp speed). And I know we’re all trying to enjoy our family (or not) so there might not be much out there… But let’s see what you’ve got!
