Our next stop at the the Shops at Riverwoods was Zion’s Mercantile. The manager actually used to manage the store in Nauvoo Illinois. It’s full of absolutely amazing LDS artwork. I mean seriously gorgeous pieces. Also LDS books and then lots of historical pieces, bonnets, book of Mormon replica’s, candles, etc….
Lots of replica’s, like this morning star, a replica of the windows in the Nauvoo Temple. My favorite? Cute little Morning Star ornaments! They are so lovely, and star shaped- perfect for my yearly star themed ornaments- now we just need to go to Nauvoo some year so they would be meaningful to the kids. I love this white dress, a replica from the time period!
Here is a smaller group of us, Kim (my amazing friend and birth story photographer), someone whose name I didn’t get, Leanne (one of my favorite people ever) and me (with Baby Boy)!
We were so lucky to have Robert Boyd come and talk to us. He told us about how he got started, how he works, answered questions, etc… His pictures are absolutely amazing… I’m seriously in love with a few of his pieces. I only wish I had a few hundred dollars lying around so I could buy some.
Zion’s Mercantile has a Facebook page as well as a blog!
Thank you to Bryce Olsen for taking all the pictures for the day so we didn’t have to! And thank you to Elisa, Veronica & Kyle for putting together such a wonderful day!

I’ll have to check out that shop next time I’m up there. I’ve been to Nauvoo many times since we lived in Missouri before we moved here last year. You have to go. Do what it takes. It is a special, sacred place.

My parents and sisters did a church history tour after I started college. We’re really hoping to do it one of these years- when the kids are a bit older and we’re out of debt! Maybe the year the kids are studying church history in seminary. To make it more real for them!
